The Apprenticeships: Closing the Skills Gap (CSG) community includes important resources for this H-1B grant program in support of the grantees’ success, and is designed to provide CSG grantees with a central place to interact with grant peers, and access technical assistance and resources to support the implementation of their grant projects. Workforce Development Month 2021

Workforce Development Professionals Month was created in 2005 by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) to raise awareness about the importance of our industry to a growing national economy. Originally celebrated in May, NAWDP moved the designation to September in 2012. The U.S. Senate recently passed a resolution naming September 2021 Workforce Development Month. This month, the Department of Labor (DOL) marked the 85th anniversary of the National Apprenticeship Act by announcing several initiatives designed to expand Registered Apprenticeships. DOL launched the “ApprenticeshipUSA” brand to establish a shared understanding of the national Registered Apprenticeship system and opened an online dialogue on the future of Registered Apprenticeship.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed on July 26, 1990, Following this legislation, Boston held the first Disability Pride Day event, and Disability Pride Month was born. Disability Pride Month celebrates disability as an identity by sharing the experiences of the disabled community and highlighting how more needs to be done to make the world accessible and inclusive for us as disabled people. Parades are held in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and San Antonio.

U.S. DOL Announces $52M in Pathway Home Grants

The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the availability of $52 million in grant funding for organizations that provide reentry services to incarcerated individuals before release from state correctional facilities or county or local jails. By eliminating gaps between release from prison or jail and enrollment in a workforce develop program, the funding will help enhance reintegration efforts and reduce recidivism.
