Description
This conference serves as a critical foundation to support grantees in achieving the primary goal of the H-1B Ready to Work (RTW) program, which is to help the long-term unemployed (LTU) get back to work. The H-1B RTW grantee conference will feature two breakout sessions that will be delivered online through a virtual platform at the conference, allowing grant staff not attending the conference in-person to join this session virtually. For RTW grant staff not attending the conference, if you would like to join this session virtually, please reserve a seat.
On Day 2 of the conference (October 15th), a breakout session, "Job Seeker Branding and Job Search Strategies to Help Long-term Unemployed Regain Confidence and Return to Work," will be held at 1:30 p.m. Eastern. This virtually-led session includes a combination of presentation and group discussion on real-life coaching strategies to help participants navigate the employment process.
Objectives:
- Learn about individual messaging and branding for building confidence and overcoming LTU stigma
- Strengthen job application materials: resumes, cover letters, interviewing, online presence
- Discuss job search strategies: use of job boards, posting resumes online, LinkedIn, in-person engagement
- Learn about networking related to specific jobs: connecting with recruiters and hiring managers, and using personal networks
