During the live webinar event on November 4th, YouthBuild teachers will lead break out discussions to answer participants’ questions based on practices shared during the pre-recorded webcasts highlighting practices and resources that support quality ELA and math instruction.

Description

To optimize the learning experience, participants should view one or both of the pre-recorded 15 minute webcasts prior to participating in the webinar. During these webcasts, participants will learn specific ways that Math and English Language Arts (ELA) YouthBuild teachers are incorporating the Common Core State Standards’ instructional shifts into their classrooms. Participants will also have access to these educators’ lesson plans and projects, which you can use with your students. Connie Rivera, a math teacher at Capital City YouthBuild, will share a sample learning unit that uses a discovery approach to teaching mathematics. Rebecca Dezan from ReSource YouthBuild will highlight a lesson that approaches ELA-related instructional shifts.
