America’s Job Centers (AJCs) and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Discretionary Grantees are looking for new ways to guide their job-seeking customers through career exploration, skill building and job matching processes. During this webinar we will share a new Practitioner’s Guide to help AJC staff find, evaluate, prioritize, promote and incorporate innovative tools.

Description

The Practitioner’s Guide is designed to help AJC staff direct their customers after an assessment process that determines customer need and barriers to employment that must be overcome. Once these needs are identified, the customer may be directed to self-service skill building sites, training, transitional work opportunities, resume and interview assistance, career exploration sites or directly to job matching sites. A compendium of the latest phone apps and online tools will be shared along with tips on how to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of these services. Freelance and self-employment may not be for everyone but this webinar will nonetheless raise the possibility of engaging with the Peer2Peer Economy, also called the Gig Economy, In-Demand Economy, or the Sharing Economy. AJC staff will hear tips on how to keep their recommended list of sites current and relevant to the needs of their customers.
