The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was passed by Congress with overwhelming, bipartisan support and signed into law by President Trump on March 27th, 2020. Through the Coronavirus Relief Fund, the CARES Act provides for payments to State, Local, and Tribal governments navigating the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The CARES Act established the $150 billion Coronavirus Relief Fund.
Treasury has made payments from the Fund to States and eligible units of local government; the District of Columbia and U.S. Territories (the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands); and Tribal governments (collectively “governments”). The following State initiatives are focused on supporting business.

Nebraska Rural Broadband Remote Access Grant allocates $40 million to provide broadband to unserved and underserved communities in Nebraska, supporting the mission to increase the state’s overall connectivity.
SharedWork Ohio is a voluntary layoff aversion program that allows workers to remain employed and employers to retain trained staff during times of reduced business activity.
